Pomegranate Guacamole

Stick with me here for a minute. This is not your everyday guacamole (although it probably should be – it’s that good!). And while I love me some good-ole traditional guacamole, this offers something entirely unique, in a really great way. It swaps out the traditional tomato for pomegranate, giving it a sweet zing that I promise will leave your heart singing and your guacamole-loving-heart swooning. Take it to your Labor Day bbq – all your friends will throw roses at your feet and crown you queen of the universe.

Pomegranate Guacamole serves 2-4 (depending on how much of a guacamole hog you and your friends are)

(slightly adapted from a recipe I got from my friend Amber, whose recipe card says it comes from someone named Fara Putnam. No idea who you are, Fara, but I owe you big time!)

Pomegranate Guacamole
Prep time:
Total time:
Serves: 4 servings
  • 1 pomegranate, de-seeded
  • 2 avocados, halves scooped out of the skins
  • 2 T. finely chopped onion
  • ½ t. cumin
  • 2 T. fresh lemon juice (about 1 lemon)
  • 1 t. salt
  • ¼ t. cayenne pepper
  1. Throw all the ingredients in a bowl. Use a sharp knife to run through the avocados until they're in small chunky pieces (or mash them if you prefer it that consistency - just promise you'll try it chunky once). Mix it all together. Serve with chips.
